Kelechi Iheanacho: Greece giants interested in signing Super Eagles forward

Greece Super League side Panathinaikos are reportedly interested in acquiring the services of Super Eagles striker Kelechi Iheanacho from Sevilla.

The Nigerian international moved to Spain in the summer after his contract at English club Leicester City expired, bringing an end to seven years at the club.

The 28-year old has failed to live up to expectations at the former Europa League Champions, struggling for form and consistency since making his move in August 2024. Despite scoring twice in three Copa Del Rey games, he has failed to score a single goal in the league despite featuring nine times, although he is yet to make a league appearance this year for the club.

Sevilla are reportedly open to letting the Nigerian international leave at a substantial amount, with manager Garcia Pimienta regarding him as surplus to requirements due to his poor form.

Panathinaikos have become the latest club to show their interest in the former Manchester City striker, adding to the long list of suitors with English side Watford and Ipswich Town jostling for his signature.

The Greece side are currently challenging for the Super league and view Iheanacho’s goal-scoring ability and experience as a suitable addition to the team and with Sevilla keen to part ways with the Super Eagles star, a move could be done this window, a chance for Iheanacho to start afresh and reignite his career.
