Eintracht Frankfurt has officially completed a move for Marseille centre-forward Elye Wahi (22) for a €26m transfer fee as revealed by both parties.
The Bundesliga side have been on the lookout for a striker following their €70m sale of Egypt international goal-scoring sensation Omar Marmoush, 25, to Manchester City earlier this week.
As per reports by L’Equipe, Eintracht and Marseille agreed to a €26m transfer fee which includes a further €3m in performance-related add-ons. Wahi put pen to paper this Friday on a five-and-a-half-year deal with Frankfurt, keeping tied to the club until 2030.
This is Wahi’s third club in the span of eighteen months. The 22-year old initially joined Franck Haise’s Champions League-playing RC Lens in a €35m move. Having failed to justify the price tag, the France international departed Lens after a €30 switch to Marseille.
In the last six months, Wahi has again failed to meet expectations this time under the tutelage of OM manager Roberto De Zerbi, scoring just three goals and one assist in 14 games, eventually losing his spot in the starting XI to Everton loanee Neal Maupay.
Wahi will wear the No. 17 jersey at Eintracht and will reunite with fellow France U21 international Hugo Ekitike
