Manchester City star, James McAtee is a new target for Bayern Leverkusen with the Bundesliga giants reportedly keen on signing the 22-year old.

As per Italian journalist, Fabrizio Romano, German club Bayer Leverkusen are interested in signing Manchester City attacking midfielder, James McAtee, this January.  Romano reported that the German club has contacted Manchester City in order to obtain the services of the 22-year-old player.

James McAtee is a graduate of  Manchester City Academy, as he returned to the club last summer after a loan period. Despite playing a total in 14 matches this season and scoring 5 goals, McAtee is yet to secure a permanent spot in the team’s starting lineup.

The Bundesliga side, who have also approached Aston Villa over a loan move for Emiliano Buendia, had pinpointed McAtee as their number one target to replace Martin Terrier who has suffered an Achilles tendon rupture which will keep sidelined for the rest of the season.

With Manchester City unwilling to release the younger, it is unclear whether Leverkusen might eventually negotiate a deal for Aston Villa’s Emiliano Buendia instead.
