EPL: Fulham’s Bassey disappointed with loss to Manchester United

Fulham defender Calvin Bassey has expressed displeasure at the result following their narrow 1-0 loss to Manchester United in the English Premier League on Sunday.

The Cottagers were impressive throughout the game but could not find a way past Andre Onana in the Red Devils goal. A deflected effort late in the game by Argentine defender Lisandro Martinez, was however enough to condemn Fulham to a second defeat in three league matches.

“I thought we deserved more. We controlled the game, and it wasn’t our day. You need a bit of luck in football, and it didn’t come our way today”, Bassey stated his disappointment after the match.

“We had a lot of chances, maybe in the final part at the end could have been better. They didn’t create too much to trouble us. We were aware of their quality.”

Substitute Toby Collyer headed an effort off the line as the Cottagers looked to equalize, while forward Rodrigo Muniz blasted over from six yards in stoppage time.

“I felt like we didn’t create that much, clear chances”, the Super Eagles defender added.

Manchester United winger Amad Diallo was denied a late second by the Video Assistant Referee in the closing stages of the game, as the Red Devils closed out a memorable win to move up to 12th on the standings.
