Report: Arsenal interested in Ex-Manchester United midfielder

English Premier League giants Arsenal have set sights on a summer move for Lille midfielder Angel Gomes.

The 24-year old midfielder whose current contract expires at the end of the season, is yet to agree an extension at the French side and could now be set for a return back to the English Premier League after five years away.

The Manchester United academy graduate left the Red Devils in the summer of 2020, to join Lille after struggling to stake a place in the team. He made his first-team debut in 2017 under Portuguese coach Jose Mourinho, but only made ten appearances in total for the reigning English FA Cup winners before he was released in 2020.

Gomes, who made his England National Team debut in September 2024 in a 2-0 victory over the Republic of Ireland, has become one of the most sought after midfielders in world football with his versatility and creativity with the ball. He is comfortable playing as an attacking midfielder and can also be deployed as a central midfielder.

Mikel Arteta’s side have reportedly expressed interest in acquiring his services at the end of his contract in June, as they look towards a summer rebuild with Ghanian midfielder Thomas Partey and former Chelsea midfielder Jorginho both expected to leave at the end of their contract.
