Manchester United manager Ruben Amorim has called his first few months in England the most intense of his coaching career, while also stating the joy of coaching the Red Devils.
The Portuguese manager joined the Red Devils from Sporting Lisbon in November, and two months after replacing Dutch coach Erik Ten Hag, Amorim has revealed the difficulties that comes with managing one of the biggest football clubs in the world.
“Yes but also the most special ones. The two sides of one coin. I knew it, I knew that it would be an exciting adventure. I knew it was going to be very difficult because everyone knew the calendar that we had and the lack of time [we had to prepare]”, he said.
“We also had the notion of the challenges that we would find and obviously, with a few defeats everything becomes a little more complicated.”
The 40-year old who won two league titles in four years while at Sporting Lisbon, has had a tough start to life in England, with six defeats in eleven games as Manchester United sit 12th on the English Premier League standings.
“The important thing is that we have a clear idea and a clear path of what we want to do. Even in challenging times we are not lost.
Perhaps we are more frustrated and angry but we know where to go”, Amorim continued.
“To feel the support of the fans despite the bad results is a sign that we are doing something well.”
