Manchester United manager Ruben Amorim is seeking improvement from his side despite their inspiring second-half display to mount a comeback at Goodison Park.
Amorim’s United endured a shockingly abysmal first half and Everton’s Beto and Abdoulaye Doucoure punished the lackluster performance of their visitors with two fantastic strikes to leave the Red Devils trailing at halftime.
However, the second half saw a much more spirited performance from Man United and their improvement was rewarded in the 72nd minute thanks to skipper Bruno Fernandes’ wonderful free kick.
Amorim’s men maintained their momentum and soon found the equalizer through Manuel Ugarte. The Uruguayan midfielder received the ball on the edge of the 18-yard box before finding the back of the net with a superb half-volley.
Despite watching his side salvage a point from the jaws of defeat, Amorim was less than satisfied with the performance of his team during the game.
“We need to win three points and we need to win the whole game. The worst part is that we are losing the ball without pressure and we are not doing what we need to do. We were soft,” Amorim told TNT Sports.
“In training, we have to continue to do the same. In the second half, we changed nothing. We have to do the same thing but in a good way. We have to improve on creating chances and in this game also we struggle with scoring goals.
“I don’t know, if I know, I will change it. Everything we do in the week, we have to do better in the game. In this moment, we need to focus on day by day. We need to survive this season and then we can think ahead.
“I don’t want to just say the negative part. In the second half, we were close to win this game.”
