Nottingham Forest manager Nuno Espirito Santo has declared that Super Eagles striker Taiwo Awoniyi, is fit to participate in the club’s next match against Newcastle United on Sunday.
The 27-year old suffered a broken nose in the FA Cup fourth round victory over Exeter City on February 11, forcing him to sit out last weekend’s defeat at Fulham in the English Premier League.
Speaking ahead of the trip to the St James’ Park to face Eddie Howe’s side, Espirito Santo stated that the former Union Berlin striker is available for the Matchday squad and should play a part in the must-win match.
“He’s clear after the concussion protocol so he’s available. He will have to wear a mask but he’s okay.
It’s always something that bothers (adjusting to the mask), but he’s trying to get used to it. Nico also uses the mask, it’s always bothering, but I think he (Awoniyi) will be okay”, the 51-year old said.
Nottingham Forest have enjoyed a great start to the season and currently sit third on the standings, hoping to secure a win on Sunday to boost their chances of qualifying for Europe ahead of next season.
