Victor Osimhen was unable to add to his goal tally as Fenerbahce played out a 0-0 draw with Galatasaray on Monday night.
Unbeaten in their last 15 matches across all competitions, Jose Mourinho’s men headed for the Rams Park with the mindset of continuing their blistering run to boost the Super Liga title chances.
However, the were held off to a goalless result by the hosts – who would rue missed chances before their home fans.
Galatasaray thought they had opened the scoring just before the quarter-hour mark when Dusan Tadic’s deflected effort hit the back of the net, but the goal was quickly ruled out after Sebastian Szymanski was adjudged to have fouled Fernando Muslera seconds prior.
Nigeria striker Osimhen was cautioned by the referee Slavko Vincic for a foul on the opposing goalkeeper. A few minutes later, he had his penalty appeal waved off after he was brought down in the box.
In the second half, both teams came out strongly as they craved for goals, albeit, a host of fouls caused disruption to the rhythm of the game.
At the end, the game ended on a no winner, no vanquished note with Galatasaray manager Okay Buruk tagging former Mourinho as the ‘Crying One’ as the former Chelsea manager was spotted heading into referee room at full time.
Buruk told the media: “Mourinho took a long time to cry! The Crying One… He is famous for crying. He went into the referee’s room and cried! Let him keep crying!”
