Super Eagles forward Nathan Tella has returned to team training for German side Bayer Leverkusen ahead of their crucial clash against Eintracht Frankfurt on Saturday.
The 25-year old sustained a hip injury in the top-of-the-table clash against Bayern Munich two weeks ago, which ruled him out of action for Bayer Leverkusen’s 2-0 win over Holstein Kiel last weekend.
According to reports in Germany, the Nigerian international returned to team training on Tuesday and although he did not complete the full session, he was able to finish the individual drills.
Tella was a key part of the German club’s run to an unbeaten league and cup double last season, contributing 12 goals and assists in all competitions. This season, he has suffered a drop in form with three goals and three assists in 30 matches in all competitions, but his ability to come up clutch for the club gives him the edge over other players.
His last goal for the club came in the 3-2 triumph over Borussia Dortmund in January, when he opened the scoring with an audacious strike seconds into the game.
Although Saturday’s game might come too soon for the Super Eagles star to return to the matchday squad, he should be ready and fit to face Bayern Munich in the UCL Round of 16 next Wednesday.
