Liverpool manager Arne Slot has been handed a two-game touchline ban by the Football Association following his red card in the match against Everton.
After the fulltime whistle in the Merseyside derby was blown, the Reds boss approached center-referee Michael Oliver on the field and was given a straight red card for comments which the English referee deemed offensive and inappropriate.
Liverpool forward Mohamed Salah thought he had won the game for the Reds, until Toffees defender James Tarkowski scored a 98th minute equalizer as the match ended in a 2-2 stalemate, sparking reactions from both set of players.
Reds midfielder Curtis Jones and Everton midfielder Abdoulaye Doucoure were both sent off in the ensuing melee, while Slot and his assistant Sipke Hulshoff were also dismissed.
The former Feyenoord boss will be absent for the matches against Eddie Howe’s Newcastle United later today, while he will also miss the encounter with relegation-threatened Southampton on March 8.
Slot was also fine £70,000 for accepting the charge while his assistant was fined £7,000 alongside the two-game ban. Liverpool and Everton were charged £65,000 and £50,000 respectively for failing to control their players.
The 46-year old will be available for Liverpool’s UCL round of 16 clash against French champions Paris Saint Germain on March 5 and will make a return back in England, when the Reds face the Magpies in the Carabao Cup final after the international break on March 16.
