Shooting Stars head coach Gbenga Ogunbote was very impressed with his side’s display as they secured a valuable point away at former African champions Enyimba, in the Nigerian Premier Football League on Wednesday.
The Oluyole Warriors took the lead in the first half through Sodiq Ibrahim, before the Peoples’s Elephant grabbed the equalizer Ekene Kennedy Awazie in the 42nd minute as the game ended 1-1 by fulltime.
Speaking after the match, Ogunbote stated that the result was an important one, as the team hope to secure a continental ticket at the end of the season.
“It was a beautiful point on the road. At this very moment, the result is a priceless one but you cannot estimate. Without this point, only God knows what position we would have occupied.
We ought to have wrapped up the game in the first half but sometimes your best moments will not give you the best result. We take the positives from it, learn from it and we pray not to make such errors any longer”, the Shooting Stars coach said.
Shooting Stars currently occupy the second position on the standings after an impressive start to the season, and will need more of Wednesday’s performance ensure they secure a continental ticket when the season ends.
“At the beginning, I did say that the target is to get a continental slot, if anything better comes up, we will gladly take it but our target is to get a continental slot”, he added.
