“We have to win”- Jurrien Timber believes Arsenal can change Season’s Narrative with UCL Victory

Arsenal defender Jurrien Timber has stated that a victory over Dutch side PSV Eindhoven in the UEFA Champions League Round of 16, could be a season-defining moment for the Gunners.

The former Premier League champions are short of options in their attacking areas, and have had to utilize Spanish midfielder Mikel Merino as their centre forward option in recent games.

The Gunners have also failed to score in back to back Premier League games, falling 13 points behind leaders Liverpool in the title race , although the 23-year old is confident they can turn their season around with a victory over the Eredivisie side.

“I think the motivation is there and it’s an amazing league to play in. I think we showed as well in the group stages that we did really well and we have a good team.

I think tomorrow is a beautiful game to change the narrative and to win”, Timber said.

The Netherlands international who has made 24 league appearances for the North London side this season, also expressed belief in the team despite their recent struggles in front of goal, stressing the importance of a win in their next match.

“I think we have so much quality in our group, of course we have a lot of injuries, especially up front, but it’s a beautiful challenge for us to put our front players – or anyone – to score goals and hopefully we can show that”, he added.

“We have to score tomorrow, we have to win and in the Champions League you only have two games, so you don’t get second chances. So we have to go for it in this game.”
