Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta has refused to concede to losing the title despite his side dropping points for a third straight league game in the 1-1 draw against Manchester United on Sunday.
The Gunners are winless in their last three league matches and have fallen 15 points behind table-toppers Liverpool, although they have a game in hand over the Reds.
Although the North London side now face a daunting task of overcoming Liverpool as they hope to secure a first league crown since 2004, Arteta is confident in his side’s abilities and has refused to concede defeat.
“I don’t want to say that. Today the frustration is that we haven’t won the game. We know the urgency and we are obligated to win every single match if you want to have any chance of doing that. I don’t think it is the right moment to talk about that.
You are so good in the first half, you do so many good things and you go one nil down. Mentally it’s painful, but we tried, we went for it, we scored the goal, we were really trying”, Arteta said after the match.
“We opened the gate to lose the game and the gate was completely closed. There was no chance we could lose the game and we opened it up ourselves.”
England international Declan Rice canceled out Bruno Fernandes’ superb opener for the Red Devils as the game ended in a stalement, with the Gunners turning their attention to the second leg of the UCL Round of 16 against PSV Eindhoven on Wednesday.
