Bruno Fernandes frowns at Radcliffe’s criticism of Manchester United players

Manchester United captain Bruno Fernandes has expressed his displeasure over the comments made by British minority owner Jim Radcliffe concerning his teammates.

Radcliffe, a billionaire businessman in an interview in an interview earlier this week, had blasted the Red Devils players deeming them ‘overpaid and not good enough’, due to their poor performances.

“Some are not good enough, some are probably overpaid. But for us to mould a squad, that we are fully responsible for, and accountable for, will take time”, the British billionaire said earlier this week.

Nonetheless, the Portugal international has spoken about the 72-year old’s comment suggesting his comments were too harsh and uncalled for.

Speaking in his post match interview after his remarkable hat trick in the 4-1 victory over Real Sociedad in the Europa League second leg on Thursday, he said: “It’s not nice to hear certain things obviously,” Fernandes said. “I don’t think that any player likes to hear criticism or things that are talked about to you, that you’re not good enough or you’re overpaid or whatever.

Everyone has their own contract. The club agrees to do the contracts at the time you come here or at the time you do a new contract or whatever and it’s about yourself proving that you can be important for the club”, he added.

Manchester United head coach Ruben Amorim had also responded to the owner’s comments, stating that the team is underperforming this season.

“I think if we are being honest, everybody – me and the players – we are underperforming this season, so we can change that”, Amorim said.

Manchester United will now face French side Olympique Lynonnais in the quarterfinals after a 5-2 aggregate win over their Spanish opponents.

Next up for the Red Devils is a must-win encounter against relegation-threatened Leicester City on Sunday in the English Premier League, as they look to secure more points despite their disappointing season that has seen them tally 34 points from 28 games so far.
