Ex-Chelsea star Emmanuel Petit questions Osimhen’s character in Blues transfer saga

Former Chelsea midfielder, Emmanuel Petit has raised questions about the character of Chelsea transfer target and Napoli loanee, Victor Osimhen.

Chelsea has been in the transfer market for a qualified no. 9 across several windows. Senegal international, Nikolas Jackson has been taking up that role at Stamford Bridge but questions continue to be asked about the performance of the 23-year old who has just nine goals to his name across all competitions in a injury-hit campaign.

The Premier League giants in west London had made a late play for Osimhen as he shuffled towards the exits at Serie A side Napoli last season but both parties were unable to strike a deal before the close of the transfer window.

The club has now renewed their interest in the striker with his impressive strike rate at Napoli and during a loan spell with Turkish giants Galatasaray making him of obvious appeal to teams across Europe.

Petit is not entirely convinced that the 26-year-old is what Chelsea need, amid questions of his character, comparing the Napoli loanee with former Blues frontman Costa – who helped the club to two Premier League titles between 2014 and 2017.

Ex-Chelsea midfielder Petit has told YaySweepstakes.com: “My concerns with Victor Osimhen would be with his personality and character, it can be a great thing for the team if it fits in, but it can also be difficult in other teams.

“We all know his qualities and what he can bring to the team, he can score goals and bring character, he reminds me of Diego Costa in that sense, he is a fighter. In terms of personality and character it can be a lot, but he is very versatile, but there might just be better options on the market this summer.”
