The Catalan giants produced a statement victory at the Olympic Stadium to move three points clear of arch-rivals Real Madrid, who had drawn level on points with their 3-2 win over Leganes on Saturday.
Barcelona dominated the early stages of the game and went ahead in the first half when Girona defender Ladislav Krejci, deflected Lamine Yamal’s freekick into his own net.
Arnaut Danjuma equalized for the visitors early in the second half before Laliga top scorer Robert Lewandowski scored twice to put the Blaugrana 3-1 up.
“It’s our idea, we always want to play in offence, attack, create chances”, a delighted Hansi Flick said in his post match conference.
“If there is a possibility to try and score a goal, always try and score. This is what I really love about my team. They always want to score goals.”
Spanish forward Ferran Torres completed the scoring with a fourth goal for Barcelona in the 86th minute, while teenage sensation Lamine Yamal struck the crossbar in the later stages on the game.

“When you saw the counter-attacks we had, I saw not only the strikers but the attacking midfielders, also Frenkie de Jong, who was sprinting nearly 90 metres or something like that, this is the mentality, the attitude of the team and it’s good.
I think everyone loves it, to see more goals than normal and of course the fans do. Everyone is happy at the moment”, the former Bayern Munich boss added.
Hansi Flick’s side have now won nine games in a row in Laliga while they have also scored four times in 20 matches this season.
