Everton have expressed their interest in Sunderland midfielder Chris Rigg, who is also a target for Tottenham, per recent reports.
The Toffees are the latest club to join the race for the 17-year old as they look to secure his signature this summer. Tottenham have also been linked with a move for Rigg who has emerged as a first-team star at the Stadium of Light.
The teenager signed his first professional contract last summer and has gone on to become a key player as Sunderland push up the Championship table. Rigg has played 35 times in the Championship, scoring four goals across all competitions. The team is currently placed fourth on the Championship table with nine points behind third-placed Burnley.
Due to Sunderland’s strong league position, and with Rigg’s contract running through until 2027, the Black Cats are demanding a fee of £40 million ($52m) for Rigg. However, the latest report claims that Everton would prefer an asking price of around £10m ($13m), as would fellow suitors West Ham.
Were Sunderland to win promotion to the Premier League, it is more likely than not that their asking price for Rigg would skyrocket.
Their next fixture comes against West Bromwich Albion this weekend.
