Barcelona head coach Hansi Flick was quick to dismiss talks of his side potentially completing a treble haul after they dispatched Atletico Madrid to seal a date with arch rivals Real Madrid in the Copa del Rey final.
After playing out a 4-4 thriller in the first leg, both sides filed out once more at the Riyadh Air Metropolitano for the second-leg on Wednesday night. The Blaugrana eventually emerged triumphant, grinding out a 1-0 win to book their place in the final.
That win extended Barcelona’s unbeaten streak to 21 games across all competitions with Flick’s men the only side in Europe to have not lost a game since the turn of the year.
Barca’s fine form has sparked talks of a potential treble haul, with the Catalans currently top of La Liga and into the Champions League quarterfinals. However, Flick has insisted that his focus is solely and the next game as his team cannot afford any slip ups at the moment.
“I know everyone wants us to talk about the final, it’s a ‘Clasico’, I get that, but I don’t live in the past or in the future and our focus should be on [Real] Betis, who are our next opponents in LaLiga,” Flick told reporters.
“Yes, we are in a great moment, but I’ve been in this business enough time to know how everything can change in a heartbeat, so we need to keep focused.
“Dreaming is allowed but first we need to work really hard and stay focused so we can keep that dream alive.”
Barcelona’s first real shot at a potential treble haul will come later this month when they take on the reigning champions of Spain and Europe Real Madrid on April 26.
