Manchester United are set to make a move for Preston goalkeeper Freddie Woodman as they seek competition for Andre Onana this summer.
The Sun reports that Woodman is a target for the 13-time Premier League champions, after impressing for Preston at Championship level. Woodman will be available on a free transfer as his deal ends with the second-tier club.
Onana has struggled for form this season, making high-profile errors against Ipswich and Brighton in recent weeks. Woodman has Premier League experience having played four times for Newcastle in the 2021-22 season.
Woodman was the hero for England at the Under-20 World Cup in 2017, saving a late penalty as they beat Venezuela 1-0 in the final. He was the stopper in a squad that featured Ezri Konsa, Dominic Solanke and Dominic Calvert-Lewin.
United take on City in the Manchester derby on Sunday before facing Lyon in the Europa League quarter-final this month. Woodman is out with an ankle injury and may well never play for Preston again
