Chelsea and Real Madrid target Dean Huijsen confirms release clause

Bournemouth defender Dean Huijsen has revealed that there is a release clause in his current contract with the Cherries amid speculations surrounding Chelsea and Real Madrid interests in his services this summer.

Huijsen signed with Premier League side Bournemouth from Serie A giants Juventus last summer. The 19-year-old has quickly developed into a highly sought-after commodity following his impressive displays for the Cherries this term.

Chelsea and Real Madrid are the two teams reported to be seriously interested in securing the teenager’s signature. It is believed that the Blues are in pole position to land the Spaniard despite rival advances from Los Blancos.

Bournemouth, who paid around £15 million to prise Huijsen away from the Allianz Arena, look set to rake in some juicy profits after it was revealed a few months back that a release clause worth £50 million had been included in his contract.

Despite the inclusion of a release clause, Huijsen, while confirming the existence of a release clause, did admit that he didn’t quite understand the full details and finalizing a move away may prove much more complicated than anticipated.

“I have a contract until 2030 and I have an exit clause,” Huijsen has now told El Chiringuito.

“How much is my exit clause? The truth is, I don’t really understand it myself.”

Pressed further on reported interest from Real Madrid; “Do a lot of teams want me? I don’t know,” Huijsen responded.

“Madrid is a big team, and every player wants to play as much as possible. Do I want to play for Real Madrid? I don’t know. We’ll see.

“A friend called me and said, ‘Go to Real Madrid’. I laughed. ‘What am I supposed to say?’. Another friend is also pushing Barcelona.”
