Everton manager, David Moyes, has questioned the English top-flight team on their decision to give Virgil Van Dijk a new contract that would see him stay at the club.
Just like his teammate, Mohamed Salah, who recently penned down a new two-year contract, the Dutch international committed his future to the Reds in a deal that will see him at the club until the Summer of 2027.
However, the Tofees boss claims it was a bad move by the EPL leaders. He made the comment as a joke.
The Scottish manager said: “No. Looks a bad signing, if you ask me. Can’t see how that player’s going to work.”
After an impressive spell at Southampton, the 33-year-old was signed by the English giants in 2018.
The Reds’ defender, since he joined, had gone on to score 27 goals in 314 appearances and got the privilege of being a captain in 2023 after Jordan Henderson departed Anfield.
Having signed this new contract, the Liverpool’s captain will be in high spirit as he travels with the team on the road to clash with Leicester City on Sunday with the hope to getting closer to clinching the Premier League for the first time as the leader of the team.
