Lyon’s Cherki speaks out after stunning loss to Manchester United amid transfer rumours.

Rayan Cherki, for the first time after Olympique Lyonnaise’s dramatic defeat to the English top-flight team in the Europa League showdown, has fired a message regarding the loss.

The Red Devils secured a thrilling 5-4 victory over the Kids in their Europa League encounter in the second leg of the last-eight on Thursday night. The English giants booked their spot in the semi-finals with spectacular goals from Manuel Ugarte, Diogo Dalot, Bruno Fernandes, Kobbie Mainoo, and Harry Maguire.

In the closing minutes of the clash, United was down 4-2 as the French midfielder found the back of the net during stoppage time. Although the 21-year-old had netted in both legs of the encounter against Ruben Amorim’s side, he still finished on the defeated side.

Posting on Instagram in less than 24 hours after the Ligue 1 top-tier club’s loss, the Lyon playmaker stressed that the club will be in high spirit as they lock horns with their arch-rivals, Saint-Etienne in the French league this weekend.

“Disappointed with the scenario, but proud of my team and my club,” Cherki wrote on his Instagram page.

“We’re going to raise our heads and get into derby mode.”

The French winger’s message came amid reports claiming the English club have shown interest in signing him this summer.
