The Whites’ star Jayden Bogle has sent a clear warning to Championship title rivals Burnley after helping his team secure promotion to the English top-flight.
On Easter Monday at Elland Road, Daniel Farke’s team celebrated their return to the top flight in style with a commanding 6-0 victory over Stoke City. With extra goals from Wilfried Gnonto and Junior Firpo, Bogle had an outstanding performance in the game, which saw four goals from Joel Piroe.
The West Yorkshire’s outfit have only two matches left in the Championship and are really driving to end the year as league champions. Their elevation to the top-tier League is guaranteed already, although the competition for the Championship title is getting fierce. With two teams heading into the final stretch, the Clarets—who also sealed automatic promotion following a win over Sheffield United—are now level on points with Leeds.
Farke’s side’s return to the Premier League has depended in large part on the 24-year-old, who came last summer from Sheffield United. Following the Elland Road giants’ triumph over Stoke City on Easter Monday, which sealed their promotion, the gifted right-back posted his emotional response.
“It’s amazing and to do it [promotion] with this club, it makes it ten times better,” Bogle told BBC Sport West Yorkshire.
“You can see the support, you can hear the noise.” He went on: “So it’s an amazing experience and something I’ve never had before.”
The three-time Championship winner will not slow down their development with promotion to the Premier League guaranteed and two games left. The Whites are still concentrating on passing their competitors, the Lancashire team, to win the Championship title. Defender Bogle has made Leeds’ goals obvious, so the Clarets are warned.
“That [winning the Championship] was our aim from the beginning of the season, and we’re not going to stop now,” the English footballer said.
“It’s nice to be promoted early, but we’ve still got a goal in mind, and we’re going to do our best to achieve that.”
