Real Madrid rocked by massive injury blows before Copa del Rey final

Real Madrid have been hit by massive injury setbacks ahead of their Copa del Rey final clash with arch rivals Barcelona as they are set to be without key duo Eduardo Camavinga and David Alaba for the showpiece.

Both Camavinga and Alaba suffered difficulties during Real Madrid’s narrow La Liga triumph over Getafe on Wednesday. Alaba was replaced at half time by his French teammate after experiencing some difficulty in his leg muscles.

Unfortunately for Los Blancos, Camavinga, who came on in place of Alaba also hit the turf late in the game and seemed to be in a considerable amount of discomfort.

After the game, head coach Carlo Ancelloti explained to reporters in a post-match press conference the suspected nature of both players’ injury and went further to cast doubts over their potential participation in the Copa del Rey final against Barcelona.

“We will see [on Thursday] what the medical exams say but [Alaba and Camavinga] both suffered leg muscle injuries and it looks very unlikely for them to make it to Saturday’s final,” he said.

Following a more comprehensive assessment by the club’s medical staff, a seriously concerning diagnosis has now been confirmed for Camavinga who is said to have suffered a “complete tear in his left abductor region,” as reports by beIN Sports.

This diagnosis means that the French midfielder could be set for a spell as lengthy as 16 weeks on the sidelines. With Los Blancos also missing Ferland Mendy through injury, they may be forced to rely on Fran Garcia for the Copa del Rey final.

The Copa del Rey final is slated to go down on Saturday, April 26th at the Estadio de La Cartuja in Seville. Saturday’s clash will mark their eighth in the showpiece event.
