Bournemouth’s Milos Kerkez has sent a congratulatory message to the Liverpool midfielder, Dominik Szoboszlai after the latter clinched the Premier League title with his team.
After a commanding 5-1 triumph over Tottenham Hotspur at Anfield, the Reds have been declared English champions for the 20th time in history, equal with Manchester United. Under Arne Slot’s direction, the Anfield giants won the Premier League title four games early.
Szoboszlai’s role in Liverpool’s title-winning campaign
Dominik Szoboszlai has been a key player for Liverpool all season long. So far playing 32 league games, he has five goals and six assists. The Hungarian’s accurate cross against Spurs resulted in Luis Diaz tying goal, then he set up Mo Salah to score Liverpool’s fourth goal.
By doing so, the midfielder made history as the Premier League’s first ever Hungarian winner. He has been producing top-quality shows since summer 2023, when he transferred from RB Leipzig for £60 million.
Kerkez shows solidarity for Szoboszlai
Milos Kerkez, the Cherries left-back and Szoboszlai’s international team-mate, sent a sincere congratulatory message following Liverpool’s championship victory.
“You deserve it my friend, love❤️👏🏻.,” he posted on his X(formerly Twitter) handle.
Meanwhile, the 21-year-old has this year been excellent for Bournemouth with two goals and six assists in the English top-flight.
Kerkez’s been on Liverpool’s radar
Looking ahead, the Hungarian youngster will be able to link up at Anfield in the near future with his fellow. For the summer transfer window, the Merseyside outfit have seen the left-back as a top target. Bournemouth have supposedly valued him at £40 million.
Liverpool’s present sports manager, Richard Hughes, signed Kerkez at Bournemouth before, which may help the Reds in talks.
Arne Slot’s squad are bracing themselves for the future now that Andy Robertson, an experienced left-back, is 31. Though Robertson has been a great tool for the club, a long-term replacement is needed—and Kerkez could be an ideal fit.
