Man United boss Amorim reflects on the team’s contrasting form

Manchester United coach Ruben Amorim has shown concern regarding the poor results of his team across tournaments.

Although United is showing superiority in the Europa League, their Premier League run remains underwhelming.

“It’s hard to explain,” the manager remarked.

“We improve in the last games. I don’t look just to the results. We had some games we won that we didn’t play well and some games we lost but we played well. Sometimes you just need a bit of luck.”

The gaffer underlined that his attention is beyond the scoreline. He thinks the performances—though results in the Premier League don’t always show it—reflect progress.

Keeping hope alive

The 40-year-old gaffer strongly believes that the Europa League is for them to win despite their dismal outing in the English top-flight.

He continued: “We can win this competition and in the Premier League we are suffering game after game and try to manage both things with some injuries. Sometimes it’s harder even for the players.

“I know that is hard to understand, but sometimes it’s the context, it’s the way we see things.”

What’s next for Man United?

Having had one foot in the Europa League final following a dominating 3-0 victory in the first leg over Athletic Bilbao, the Red Devils’ boss stays grounded.

“I think they have to think about the second leg,” he added.

“And they have to think more about the first 20 minutes than the rest of the game because the game is going to be really tough.

“There are no away goals so anything can change and that is my message to the players, and we have to think now about Brentford [at the weekend] and then the second leg.”

Complacency cannot set in, and the team must remain laser-focused on the tasks ahead, according to Amorim’s clear message.

Looking ahead

The Portuguese manager confronts a critical challenge in balancing the English giants’ two goals with mounting domestic pressure and worsening injuries. His laser is focused on the key domestic league clash with Brentford followed by the decisive second leg in Europe.

Fans from Manchester will be counting on the head coach to keep inspiring European brilliance—and to reverse their form at home before it is too late.
