Manchester City skipper Kevin De Bruyne was at his brilliant best with the only goal of the game, as his side recorded a 1-0 win over Wolves on Friday night.
Story of the game
Wolves had won six straight league games prior to their meeting with Pep Guardiola’s side and started on the front foot.
Marshall Munetsi failed to control a pass in the area with the goal gaping in front of him, before Rayan Ait-Nouri struck the post inside the area.
However, City took the lead in the 35th minute after Jeremy Doku opened up the visitors defence before squaring for Kevin De Bruyne to slot in.
Last season’s champions controlled the second half and sealed out the win to move up to third on the standings, a huge boost for their UCL aspirations.
De Bruyne stars again
With the Belgian set to leave the club in the summer when his contract expires, he showed his impact once more with another inspiring showing.
The 33-year old became the first player since Lionel Messi to reach 250 goal involvements under Pep Guardiola, with his 108th Premier League goal.
His goal was his 11th goal involvement in his last 10 matches against Wolves, making the club one of his favorite opponents.
Will Man City qualify for UCL?
Man City are now unbeaten in their last nine league games, with seven wins and two draws as they continue their push for UCL qualification.
After a turbulent season, the Cityzens have found their grind and have won four consecutive league matches for the first time since September 2024.
Peo Guardiola side are up to third on the league standings with 64 points and with three games remaining against relegated Southampton, Bournemouth and Fulham, they are on course to secure a top-five finish, which would be enough for a UCL spot next season.
