Haaland targets FA Cup amid Manchester City’s ‘horrific’ season

Manchester City star Erling Haaland has acknowledged that the present campaign has been short of being successful for the team.

Despite the challenges for the Cityzens this season after their recent regular supremacy, the Norwegian star remains committed to finishing it on a high note.

What the playmaker said?

“This season has been tough,” he revealed to BBC Sport.

“It is not nice to lose so many games. It is boring and not fun. That’s why we need to finish well and get a trophy.”

Pep Guardiola’s squad has not measured up in this campaign to the high expectations from earlier seasons. Renowned for their winning attitude, having won four Premier League titles consecutively and the UEFA Champions League in 2023, the club has found itself in a tight spot, as they are 18 points behind the domestic league winners Liverpool.

Where to go from here?

The Norway international is upbeat in spite of the obstacles. The FA Cup final with Crystal Palace presents an opportunity for redemption.

He added: “It is a good habit to reach Wembley and always important to win trophies. We have the FA Cup final to play for and in a horrific season we still managed to do this.”

What lies ahead?

The 24-year-old knows that a good finish could turn around the story of a tough season. He is working to raise the FA Cup trophy. Fans of Man City will wish the squad could meet the challenge and provide something to celebrate.
