Liverpool forward Mohamed Salah made no secret of his desire to one day be the recipient of the prestigious and highly coveted Ballon d’Or award after capping off a sensational individual campaign with Premier glory.
Another incredible season for Salah
Salah played a starring role in Liverpool’s triumphant Premier League campaign, firing the Reds to their second title in five years with 28 goals and 18 assists to his name.
His 46 goal contributions over the course of the season means he has set a new record for the most goal involvements in a 38-game Premier League season.
Currently leading both the goals and assists charts, Salah could also become the first player in Premier League history to finish top in both categories in two separate seasons, having previously done so in 2021/2022.
Remarkably, he is now just one goal or assist away from equalling the all-time record of 47 goal involvements in a single season, a feat achieved by Andrew Cole in 1993/1994 and Alan Shearer in 1994/1995.

Salah’s Ballon d’Or dream
Following a spectacular season, Salah’s name automatically pops up in any Ballon d’Or debate doing the rounds, be it among fans or even pundits. In a recent interview with Sky Sports, the prolific Egyptian did not shy away from revealing his dream of winning the individual accolade.
“It used to drive me crazy before. Some stuff is not in your hands, so you give up in that direction,” Salah said.
“When you go to work, you remind yourself of what you want to achieve in the season, so it drives you to work harder.
“I’d love to win it one day. But if it didn’t happen, I don’t know what to do.
“I’m sure there’s a good chance to win it this year, but we’ll see.”
Can Salah win the Ballon d’Or?
While there are no clear favourites for the Ballon d’Or at this point, Salah has no doubt done more than enough to earn a place among the creme de la creme of Europe’s top five leagues whose names have regularly been mentioned in relation to this award.
The likes of Barcelona duo Lamine Yamal and Raphinha alongside Paris Saint-Germain’s Ousmane Dembele are all strong contenders for the award having also enjoyed personal and collective success this season.
