Amad Diallo reveals secret behind incredible change of fortunes at Man Utd

Manchester United’s exciting wide man Amad Diallo has opened up on the reason for his outstanding change of fortunes at the club, having become a prominent figure in Ruben Amorim’s setup this season.

What happened?

Amad signed for Manchester United in January 2021 and despite loan spells at Rangers and Sunderland, the slender left-footed winger found it difficult to secure a regular place in the first team under Erik ten Hag.

While he started only seven of the 26 Premier League matches he was available for under Ten Hag, the Ivorian star has seen his involvement increase dramatically since the arrival of current head coach Ruben Amorim.

After taking charge in November, Amorim included Amad in 12 of his first 13 top-flight starting lineups, before the fleet-footed forward got sidelined by an injury.

What has changed?

Amad has repaid Amorim’s trust in superb fashion. The former Atalanta star is Man United’s second most productive player since the Portuguese gaffer’s arrival, behind only mercurial skipper Bruno Fernandes.

Quizzed on the secret behind his incredible change of fortunes with the Red Devils, the Ivorian pointed out that increased game time under the current United boss is what has done the trick.

“Since I got that game time, I showed everyone I can play for this club,” Amad told The Telegraph. “That was the only thing I didn’t have at the beginning when I arrived here.

“Now I have a manager who believes in me, who trusts me, so I’m grateful for everything he did for me. Now it’s for me to play everything on the pitch.

“You have a little bit of frustration. But I think now it’s because the manager believes in me. He believes in my potential. I’m trying to repay his confidence every time I’m on the pitch.”

What next?

Manchester United’s 16th placement on the Premier League table is a fair reflection of how terrible they have been in the league this season.

However, Amad and his teammates have a chance to salvage something from the season with a chance to potentially win the Europa League and secure Champions League football ahead of next season.

For this to happen though, they will have to overcome fellow Premier League strugglers Tottenham Hotspur, who languish in 17th place and also find themselves desperate to salvage something from a terrible campaign.

Both teams will lock horns at San Mames in Bilbao, Spain on Wednesday, May 21.
