Ancelotti to lead Brazil to the 2026 WC
After spending 30 years in club football, managing several clubs across Italy, France, England, and Spain, Ancelotti is now set to trade his exploits at international level at the twilight of his managerial career.
Earlier this month the Brazilian Football Confederation confirmed that the Italian coach will join the national team formally after managing Real Madrid for their final La Liga game of the 2024-25 campaign. The team will take on Real Sociedad this Saturday in their final La Liga match, having already surrendered the title to arch-rivals Barcelona.
Ancelotti: ‘The President’s dream’
CBF appointed the 65-year-old as head coach following the dismissal of Dorival Junior after the 4-1 defeat to Argentina at the World Cup qualifiers after 14 months in charge. Brazil are currently fourth in Conmebol World cup qualifiers, with the top-six to qualify for the 2026 showpiece event in the United States, Canada and Mexico.
