Barcelona’s Brazilian winger Raphinha has revealed that he dreams of spending the rest of his career with the reigning La Liga champions after signing a contract extension that will see him tied to the Blaugrana until 2028.
Why did Barcelona renew Raphinha’s contract?
Raphinha’s previous contract was set to expire in 2027. However, after an exceptional season, the Brazilian international has committed to a new deal with the Catalan club.
Raphinha seemed destined for the exit when Hansi Flick first arrived at Barcelona, but he has since thrived under the leadership of the former Bayern Munich and Germany manager, producing some of the best performances of his career.
He played a crucial role in Barcelona’s title-winning La Liga campaign, netting 18 goals and providing nine assists to help the Blaugrana finish ahead of rivals Real Madrid. His impact was even more pronounced in the Champions League, where he tallied 13 goals and eight assists.

What did Raphinha say?
Speaking for the first time after penning his new Barcelona deal, Raphinha could not hide his delight, with the 28-year-old winger admitting to Barca One that he hopes to finish his playing career with the Catalans.
“This is very rewarding for me and is something very special,” he said. “It makes me very happy and a personal objective since I arrived is to give the fans a lot of joy.
“I have spoken to my family and my dream is to be here until the end of my career. And I hope to do it at my best.”
What next?
Despite already securing both of their current wingers to new deals, with Lamine Yamal’s future also settled, Barcelona remain in search of wide reinforcements going into the summer. In fact, sporting director Deco recently named Marcus Rashford and Luis Diaz as players of interest.
As for Raphinha, his stellar performances have propelled him into conversations surrounding the Ballon d’Or award alongside teammate Yamal, Paris Saint-Germain’s Ousmane Dembele and Liverpool’s Mohammed Salah.
