Dean Huijsen keen to impress at Real Madrid

Spanish international Dean Huijsen is eager to perform under new manager Xabi Alonso at Real Madrid.

The 20-year old signed a contract with the former European champions last month, although he just joined at the end of the season on a five-year deal.

Madrid poor campaign

Los Blancos endured a disappointing campaign, losing out on their La Liga title defence to rivals Barcelona, while they also suffered a humiliating 5-1 loss to Arsenal in the quarterfinals of their UCL clash.

Real Madrid also lost out to the Blaugrana in both the Supercopa final and the Copa Del Rey final, with Hansi Flick’s side recording a clean sweep of Spain’s domestic trophies.

Carlo Ancelotti has also left the club to join the Brazilian national team with Xabi Alonso hired as his replacement.

What Huijsen said

“My plan was to spend two years at Bournemouth, and grow, and then figure out what to do next,” he said. “But things have moved very quickly, faster than I expected.”

We’ve talked a bit about the team and what he has in mind, and about the project,” Huijsen continued. “Of course, we want to win things again, and I’m sure we will… I don’t think it’s sunk in yet. But I’m here at Madrid, and I’ll try to do my best.”

Huijsen is expected to feature at the club world cup later this month, his first duties as a Real Madrid player.

“I want to play with the best”, the 20-year old added. “[Kylian] MbappéVinícius [Júnior], Rodrygo, and Jude Bellingham, all those in attack — they’re some of the best there is.”

What next for Madrid?

Real Madrid head to the club world cup in the United States this month, hoping to become the first team to secure the title.
