Liverpool midfielder Harvey Elliott has expressed desire to leave the club due to limited playing time.
Elliott, 22, joined the club from Fulham in July 2019 and has found playing time hard to come by in his five years at the club.
What Elliott said
“It’s just a situation that me and the team have to have a conversation about because I’m coming into an age now where I’m 22, I’m going to be 23 next season,” Elliot said.
“I don’t really want to be wasting years [of] my career because it’s a short career. You don’t know what’s going to happen. I need to reflect. I need to see if I’m content in doing what I’m doing and how can I improve as a player because that’s the most important thing.”

The 22-year old who is currently preparing to represent England at the U-21 European Championships in Slovakia, expressed his intent to continue playing at the highest level.
“I just want to improve and be the best possible version of myself. If that’s to go somewhere else, then it’s a decision that I’m going to have to make and I just need to see what happens”, he continued.
“Nothing makes me want to leave. I love the club, I love the fans, the team. I support them as well. But most importantly, it’s just about what’s best for my career.”
Could Elliott leave the Reds?
The 22-year old is looking to leave the Premier League champions this summer in search of more playing time ahead of the World Cup next year.

Elliott has made 147 appearances for the Reds, although most of them have come as a substitute with the likes of Alexis MacAllister, Curtis Jones, Dominik Szoboszlai and Ryan Gravenberch all ahead of him.
Liverpool’s interest in German international Florian Wirtz could also spell danger for Elliott, who could spend more time out of the first team.
At the right offer, the former Fulham man could make the move away from Anfield next summer, with interest from Newcastle United.
