Dembele opens up on potential Ballon d’Or win

Paris Saint Germain forward Ousmane Dembele has revealed his desire to win the Ballon d’Or award during his football career.

Dembele, 28, was named UCL player of the season after an outstanding campaign and the France international has admitted it would be an exceptional feat to claim the award.

What Dembele said

“To begin with, I hope to be among the 30 nominees”, Dembele told France Football about his own chances of winning the Ballon d’Or.

I have had difficult years with injuries, poor performances as well. This season I think I have been consistent, so we will see what happens”, the former Barcelona man stated.

“It would already be exceptional to have my name on the list. And being one of the favourites is already a great victory, although I hope to win it someday.

I like to dribble, but I am also someone who helps the team a lot, who wants to score goals and assist”, he continued.

“Then, everyone thinks what they want and votes for what they want. If you like Ousmane Dembélé, great; if not, life goes on. We’ll see.”

Dembele also spoke highly of Yamal, the 17-year old Barcelona attacker who has risen to stardom at a very young age.

“They were already talking about him from a very young age in Barcelona,” Dembele said of Yamal.

“When he arrived at the professional team, we understood that he was exceptional and took on another dimension. In training, he dribbled, assisted, scored.”

Who will win the Ballon d’Or?

Dembele alongside Barcelona’s duo of Raphinha and Lamine Yamal have been identified as leading candidates to claim the prestigious French Football award.
