Manchester City midfielder Tijjani Reijnders has revealed that he is ready to make a lasting impact at the club, while downplaying comparisons to club legend Kevin De Bruyne.
Reijnders, 26, completed a move to the former Premier League champions last week for a fee of about £46.5 million from Italian side AC Milan as part of a summer overhaul which saw Cityzen’s legend De Bruyne leave the club at the end of his contract to join Napoli.
What Reijnders said
While speaking in an interview, the Dutch midfielder revealed De Bruyne, who developed his game under Pep Guardiola to become one of the best footballers in the world, as his idol although he downplayed any comparison to the Man City legend.

Reijnders said; “I’m not here to replace him [De Bruyne]. I have to play my own game. But I take things from different players and what they can do really well and try to adapt that.
With Kevin De Bruyne, [it was] how he was scanning the pitch, the passes he gave.
The 26-year old also expressed readiness to feature under Guardiola, who is widely regarded as the greatest football coach ever.
“That’s also a big thing, of course, the best coach in the world.

When will Reijnders make his debut?
The Netherlands midfielder was crowned Serie A midfielder of the season after an impressive campaign with the Rossoneri.
Reijnders is currently part of the City squad in the United States for the ongoing FIFA World Cup, and could make his club debut against Moroccan side Wydad Casablanca on Wednesday in Philadelphia.
The Club will then play further matches against Al Ain and Italian side Juventus in Group G of the tournament.
