Fofana joined Lyon for a four-year contract from Belgian side Gent in January 2024. He registered a total of 11 goals and provided six assists across 41 appearances in all competitions during the 2024-25 campaign. This also includes six goals during Lyon’s run to the Europa League quarter-finals.
Fofana earned his first Belgium call-up in October 2024 and has been capped once at senior level.

Chelsea have also enquired about Alejandro Garnacho as part of their targets for the summer. The Blues are clearly interested in adding a left-winger to the team, but they should arguably save some money to invest in other areas.

Chelsea are in the market for a new right-footed wide player this summer. The club has made the decision not to make Jadon Sancho’s loan move from Manchester United permanent. They also made an approach to sign Jamie Gittens from Borussia Dortmund before the Club World Cup . But the team could not conclude a deal before the pre-tournament transfer window ended on June 10.
A striker was another priority in the window with Liam Delap arriving from Ipswich Town earlier this month in time to feature in the newly-expanded Club World Cup in the United States. Chelsea’s first game in the tournament comes later on Monday when they face LAFC.
