Canada international Jade Rose has signed a four-year deal at Manchester City which will keep her at the club through 2029.
The 22-year-old centre back will be the first signing of Manchester City’s transfer window as she officially join from Harvard University on July 1. Rose will wear the No. 4 jersey at City.
During her time in Harvard, Jade received consecutive Ivy League Defensive Player of the Year honours. She was also named Canada Soccer Young Player of the Year in 2023, alongside earning a Bachelors degree focused on psychology.
“I’m so incredibly excited, so proud of how far I’ve come, and I just can’t wait to get started,” Rose said. “I think the history of the club, the fans, the style of play, the city, everything (attracted me to City).
“I’m just super excited to get started. I’m ready to win the Champions League, to win every trophy that’s out there. I think the sky is the limit for this team and I can’t wait to grow and get at it.”
NWSL sides including Gotham FC were said to be interested in the player, according to multiple sources not authorised to speak publicly. City rivals Manchester United were also interested.
City finished fourth in the WSL last season, one point off the Champions League spots, after sacking Gareth Taylor in March.

The club had finished second in 2021 and 2024, winning the 2020 FA Cup and the 2022 League Cup.
Rose made her senior national debut for Canada in 2021 at the age of 18. She was first recruited for the youth setup at 14.
The Canadian has racked up a total of 28 appearances for Canada since her senior debut in a February 2021 SheBelieves Cup clash with Argentina. She was also a part of the Olympic squad in Paris last year as they reached the quarter-finals, eventually losing on penalties to Germany.
