Salah eyes historic third PFA Players’ Player of the Year triumph

The Egyptian star Mohamed Salah could write his name more deeply into Premier League history.

The Liverpool forward has been nominated to the six-man shortlist for the 2025 PFA Players’ Player of the Year award.

Following a spectacular season when he scored 29 goals and contributed 18 assists, it is hardly surprising.

Salah has already won the FWA Footballer of the Year and the Premier League Player of the Season.

Having won it in 2018 and 2022, he now seeks to become the first player to claim the PFA award three times.

Alexis Mac Allister, another teammate, joins him on the list. Named Player of the Month for April, the Argentine played 35 of 38 league games.

Cole Palmer is also competing. Early in the season, his form drew notice even though it faded late. Manchester United’s Bruno Fernandes makes the cut following a strong individual effort in an otherwise unremarkable campaign.

Declan Rice is honored for flying the flag for Arsenal, whereas Newcastle’s Alexander Isak is nominated for netting 27 goals in all events.

Notably, no Manchester City players appear on the list this year missing out last season’s victor Phil Foden and 2023 Erling Haaland.

At the PFA ceremony on Tuesday, August 19, the winner will be announced.
