Messi set for showdown with PSG after Inter Miami stalemate

Lionel Messi is slated for a spectacular reunion with Paris Saint-Germain.

Inter Miami finished second in Group 4 following their 2-2 draw with Palmeiras, thereby arranging a last 16 battle with PSG.

Miami were cruising early into the encounter. Opening the scoring was Tadeo Allende in the 16th minute while doubling the advantage was Luis Suarez, placing the MLS side entirely in control.

But late, Palmeiras responded. Paulinho scored in the 80th minute. Mauricio then evened in the 87th to claim first place.

The other group A clash resulted in anarchy. Porto and Al Ahly drew 4-4 in a keenly-contested match that saw both teams crash out.

Al Ahly’s hattrick was scored by Wessam Ali. His third goal followed strikes by William Gomes and Samu Aghehowa to even the game at 3-3.

With a 64th-minute goal, Mohamed Romdhane gave the Saudi Pro League outfit short hope.

Pepe, meanwhile, crushed their dreams with an 89th-minute late equaliser.

Botafogo will next play Palmeiras on June 28, hence arranging a fiery South American matchup.
