Oscar Bobb gives verdict on Man City future

Norwegian forward Oscar Bobb is determined to fight for his place at Manchester City as he looks to make up for lost time following an extended spell on the sidelines.

Bobb had a breakthrough campaign during City’s 23/24 Premier League title-winning season and looked to be a vital player in the 24/25 season. However, just before the start of the campaign, he suffered a fractured leg that was expected to rule him out for up to four months.

After an extended stay on the treatment table, Bobb returned to action in April, but managed only three Premier League appearances before picking up a hamstring injury that further stalled his progress.

Still, the Norway international recovered in time to earn a spot in Pep Guardiola’s squad for the Club World Cup and has featured in both of their matches so far, scoring City’s fifth goal in their 6-0 win over Al Ain on matchday two.

Despite Man City’s glut of reinforcements including the arrivals of Rayan Cherki and Tijjani Reijnders, Bobb remains focused on proving his worth and securing a place in Guardiola’s setup next season.

“I expect to be here,” Bobb said. “I think that’s the way I have to look at it and, you know, try and impress every chance I get and, yeah, just be ready.”

Speaking about his journey back to full fitness, Bobb continued: “It was tough at times, but the club offered great support and I was always thinking of coming back stronger.

“I came back around February and then got a bit of an overload and that kept me up for a few weeks, but then after that, I’ve been fine. But obviously, getting the fitness back takes some time, but I feel great.”
