Thomas Partey leaves Arsenal

Thomas Partey to leave Arsenal at end of contract

Thomas Partey will leave Arsenal when his contract expires on Monday, with the club set to confirm the midfielder’s exit from the club next week.

The 32-year-old was in talks over extending his stay at the Emirates Stadium but an agreement could not be reached.

Although the likely outcome became clear in recent weeks, a final call has now been made.

As per reports by The Athletic, Arsenal and Thomas Partey were in talks over a renewal in April. Partey has been a crucial part of Mikel Arteta’s side during the 2024-25 campaign, featuring in a total of 52 games in all competitions.

Arsenal have been ever-present in the transfer window. The club considers reinforcing Party’s area of the field this summer a major target. The club have finalised a deal with Real Sociedad’s Martin Zubimendi.

Partey had been free to speak to overseas teams since January.

Arsenal are also in the process of finalising an agreement with Brentford to sign Christian Norgaard.

Thomas Partey moved to Arsenal in October 2020 from Atletico Madrid after his €50 million (now £42.7m; $57.3m) release clause was met and has made 167 appearances, scoring nine goals.

Thomas Partey joined Atletico in 2012. He registered 188 first-team appearances and scored 16 goals, winning the Europa League in 2018 and finishing as a runner-up in the Champions League in 2016.
