Liverpool youngster Trey Nyoni has signed a fresh, long-term contract with the club on his 18th birthday.
At the AXA Training Centre, the midfielder committed his future to the club, a big step forward following a breakout first year.
Nyoni began rapidly rising through the ranks after Leicester City’s September 2023 arrival with the Reds. Last year he played for the senior team as well as the U18s, U19s, and U21s.
With just 16 years and 243 days, he became the fourth-youngest debutante in club history after making six first-team appearances. That instant came in the FA Cup victory against Southampton in February 2024.
The 18-year-old kept impressing Arne Slot during the 2024–25 season. Five further senior appearances were made, and his name was recorded in the record book.
Coming on against PSV Eindhoven at 17 years and 213 days, he became the Premier League champions’ youngest-ever player in European competition.
Talking to the club after signing his fresh contract, the Reading-born player remarked: “It means a lot, obviously supporting the club from young as well. So, it’s a great feeling. But now I have to go out and show why I’ve earned this contract.”
He continued: “I think it’s just step by step, day by day, just becoming better every day, just improving as a player. I’m still young, there’s a lot of improvement. That’s the most important thing. I just have to repay them in that way.”
The midfielder will be prepared to prove this new deal as he looks forward to a new season in the English top-flight.
