Jarrad Branthwaite signs new five-year Everton contract

Jarrad Branthwaite has signed a new long-term contract which will keep him at Everton until 2030. The 23-year-old’s previous contract was set to expire in 2027.

Manchester United had earlier submitted bids of £35 million (now $48m) and £45m plus add-ons for Branthwaite last summer, both of which were rejected. He had since remained on the radars of top clubs.

Last summer, Everton stated that they may have to sell Branthwaite should a suitable offer be presented, but The Athletic reported in June that new owner The Friedkin Group (TFG) informed potential suitors he was not for sale. Everton are also close to extending the contracts of Michael Keane and Idrissa Gueye, whose terms expired at the end of June, and are at an advanced stage of negotiations with Villarreal over an initial €32m deal for forward Thierno Barry.

“I’m over the moon,” Branthwaite told evertontv. “It’s been something we’ve been talking about since the end of the season and to get it signed now is something I’m really excited about.

“The trust the club’s put in me and how many games I’ve played over the past two seasons has made it quite an easy decision for me to stay and to keep progressing as a player.

“I know the club. I feel loved by the players — we’ve got a good group here — and the fans. Over the past few years, I’ve seen the impact the fans have on us as a team and how much it means to them. And, obviously, with the new stadium we’ve got here, the new ownership and the new manager, it’s an exciting project and it’s something I want to be part of.”

Branthwaite joined Everton from Carlisle United as a 17-year-old in January 2020. After loan spells with Blackburn Rovers and PSV Eindhoven, he has since established himself as a key member of the squad, making 86 first-team appearances.

He played 33 times in all competitions during the 2024-25 campaign.

He won his first and only England cap to date against Bosnia & Herzegovina last summer, but missed out on Gareth Southgate’s 26-man squad for the European Championship.
