Real Madrid are open to allowing Brazil forward Rodrygo leave the club this summer.
The 24-year-old made his first appearance for Madrid in 53 days in their opening Club World Cup game which ended in a 1-1 draw against Al-Hilal. But has only managed 23 minutes for Alonso in their three matches since.

Rodrygo did not feature for Madrid towards the end of last season under Carlo Ancelotti with concerns about the player sometimes lacking motivation in training. Although the player’s camp denied those speculations, it was those concerns which led to Ancelotti concluding to not include the winger in his first squad as Brazil manager last month.
The presence of Madrid’s high-profile trio in Kylian Mbappe, Vinicius Junior and Jude Bellingham, has made it difficult for the player to gain consistent playing time at the club, as emphasized by his father, Eric Goes. Rodrygo, Vinicius Jr and Mbappe have one thing in common — a preference for the left wing.
The presence of two top players in the team competing for the same position has made it difficult for Rodrygo to gain consistent playing time.
Those complaints have not gone down well at various levels of the club. This, along with the player’s poor performances, had led Madrid to open the door to a potential sale.
Alonso took over as manager at Madrid ahead of the Club World Cup and at that point Rodrygo’s future appeared undecided, but now it appears the club and the manager are willing to let him off the books.
Arsenal are one of the clubs interested in Rodrygo, having held preliminary talks with the player’s representatives in recent weeks.

Madrid signed Rodrygo from Santos for €40 million when he was 18 in 2019. He then established himself as a regular part of the first team since Ancelotti arrived back at the club in 2021. He also played crucial roles in the two Champions League titles won under the Italian.
