Paris Saint-Germain manager Luis Enrique is ready for a fiery confrontation as his team clashes with Real Madrid in the FIFA Club World Cup semifinals.
Facing the press before the duel, Enrique lauded Los Blancos’ caliber but also acknowledged the emotional weight of the match.
Considering the recent conflict between the two teams, which grew after last summer’s Kylian Mbappe story, he acknowledged the game will be “special.”
The Spanish football coach maintained his quiet tone notwithstanding the conflict.
“High temperatures are not good for the spectacle, but we’re used to it,” the gaffer remarked.
“The match against Real Madrid will be special… but if we’ve made it this far, it means we’ve done something right.
“This Real Madrid is difficult to analyze. We know they all have great quality and are very strong,” he concluded.
The Galacticos’ domination in the competition so far has made them clear favourites. But the French top-flight side are not pushover. The Spaniard is aware that New York demands top performance from his side.
He also took a minute to applaud Xabi Alonso, foreseeing great achievements for the former midfielder at the Bernabeu.
He added: “Xabi Alonso has everything to be up to the task at a club like Real Madrid.”
The 55-year-old’s collected attitude, however calm he appears before the cameras, does not necessarily mean the match will be placid. Fireworks are always close by when these European titans crash.
