Sporting Lisbon striker Victor Gyokeres has opened up on a potential move to English Premier League side Arsenal, revealing his plans for revenge.
The Gunners have reportedly agreed personal terms with the Sweden international and have been in discussion with the Portuguese side to agree on a deal.
Gyokeres has refused to join his Sporting Lisbon teammates for preseason and is determined to seal a move away from the club.
The 27-year-old had a short-lived Premier League spell with Brighton and Hove Albion, but was mostly away on loan in his three years at the club.
“It’s one of the biggest leagues in Europe, I spent several years there without being able to play a single match. So, of course, it’s something I would like to do. It would be a great revenge”, Gyokeres said.
“It’s football, you never know. I’m not thinking about it, we’ll see what happens.
If something is going to happen, it will happen. The most important thing for me is to play for a club that really wants me”, he continued.
Gyokeres scored 54 goals and provided 13 assists for Sporting Lisbon in all competitions last season, leading the Lions to a domestic double.

The Swedish striker also demonstrated his goal-scoring ability on the biggest stage, netting six goals in the UEFA Champions League, including a stunning hat-trick in the 4-1 win over Pep Guardiola’s Manchester City.
“I’m definitely one of them,” Gyokeres added. “It’s difficult to rank me but yes, I’m at the same table as them now.
What I managed to do at Sporting, I’m convinced I can do anywhere. You haven’t seen the best of Gyokeres yet”, he concluded.
Arsenal are expected to finalize a €80 million deal for the 27-year-old in the coming days, making him their fifth signing of the summer.
