Arsenal have announced the signing of England forward Noni Madueke from Chelsea in a deal worth up to £52 million.
Madueke becomes the Gunners’ fourth summer signing following the arrivals of Kepa Arrizabalaga, Martin Zubimendi and Christian Norgaard.
Arsenal had agreed an initial £48.5 million deal for the winger before the FIFA Club World Cup final and he now joins on a five-year deal with the total transfer fees rising to a total of £52 million.
“To every staff member that helped me along this journey, thank you. To my team-mates thank you for everything, I leave with only love and admiration for you guys. We achieved so much this season and I honestly wish you guys nothing but the best,” Madueke said in a farewell message on his Instagram page.
“To Enzo Maresca, it was a privilege to play under you, thank you for trying to better me as a player and as a person. Lastly thank you to every single Chelsea fan. Thank you for the love, the praise and also the criticism, I appreciate it all. I leave here with nothing but fond memories.”
Madueke scored 20 goals in 92 appearances for Chelsea since joining from PSV Eindhoven in January 2023.
The 23-year-old can play on either wing, serving as a good option on the left while providing a suitable backup for England teammate Bukayo Saka on the right.
“I’m somebody who goes with my gut feeling a lot of the time and I feel like it’s steered me in the right direction so far. So, I don’t think it’s going to be any different here,” Madueke revealed after signing his Arsenal contract.
“It’s already a great team with a clear identity and I can’t wait to bring my style to the team and try and help the boys as much as possible to take that next step”, he added.
Madueke becomes the seventh player to join Arsenal from Chelsea in the last six years and will wear the number 20 jersey.
The Gunners are also on the verge on completing deals for Sporting Lisbon striker Victor Gyokeres and Valencia defender Cristhian Mosquera.
