Allegri eyes Champions League return with Modric boost

Massimiliano Allegri has come back to AC Milan to lead the team back to the best European level with obvious purpose.

The coach underlined Luka Modric’s influence on the team’s technical ability during pre-season speaking confidently.

“Modric will be important for us; he’s a champion and will raise the technical level. The goal is to return to playing in the Champions League, which won’t be easy because there are very well-equipped and competitive teams,” Allegri informed journalists.

Milan missed out on European football last year, landing outside of the Champions League places. That dearth provides the side with more training time albeit at a cost.

“The positive aspect is that playing once a week gives you more time to work, assimilate concepts, and become more of a team. The negative aspect is that by not playing in the Champions League, you don’t get to play the big games everyone would like to play,” the 57-year-old added.

“I look at the glass half full: we have to work hard so that Milan can return to the Champions League next year. I’ve come back here with enthusiasm and desire.

“I’m focused on the final objective, which is to qualify for the 2026-27 Champions League, which is crucial for the brand and for the club financially,” be concluded.

The Rossoneri supporters are hopeful after the Croatian great finished an honorary trophy-laden performance in Madrid. The 38-year-old made more than 350 appearances for Real Madrid and earned five Champions League crowns in route.

The Italian manager certainly seems driven. Driven by knowledge, discipline, and a clear goal in mind, all eyes are on Milan’s comeback this season free of continental distractions.
